On Thursday, Sep. 12, 2024, WERI attended day two of the Annual Water and Wastewater Conference: Emerging Challenges for Pacific Island Water Producers hosted by AWWA HIPS at the Hyatt Regency Guam.
Dr. Nathan Habana, WERI faculty and hydrologist, presented one of WERI’s latest projects as part of the MAppFx library, a series of data visualization web applications that feature map and graph components, on the Guam Hydrologic Survey. He was assisted by Mr. Matt Wilson Zapata (a research assistant at WERI and one of the MAppFx developers) who demonstrated the features available on MAppFx.
In the presentation, they previewed the latest developments for MAppFx: Chloride and Production, which highlights water quality and production rates that are crucial for effective water resource management.
He also unveiled the MAppFx projects currently underway for Saipan, CNMI targeting datasets for production well nitrates and chloride. Visualizing the data on the MAppFx platform allows the user to view areas of interest or concerns alongside a summary of available time series data. This is an ongoing collaborative effort with the BECQ team based in Saipan, Cdr. Travis Spaeth, PE and Mr. Glenn Arriola.
