WERI hosted the exchange with Feng Chia University (FCU) from Taiwan. FCU’s visit at WERI marks the second exchange between the two institutions. The last exchange took place last year in April.
FCU was greeted warmly with opening remarks from Dr. Yuming Wen, WERI Director, followed by the introduction of the research projects from the FCU team by Dr. Hsu, a FCU professor representing the team.
There were a total of 16 presentations, nine of which were from Dr. Hsu’s team from FCU. Their research showcased different areas of science and engineering with projects about transportation, water quality and resources, hydraulics, environmental issues, politics and social issues.
WERI faculty and research assistants presented ongoing projects, spanning across research areas in hydrology, climate analysis, modeling, and data visualization.
The exchange is a good platform for both institutions to convene and share ideas for their research. Engaging in scientific conversations, such as this exchange, cultivates advancements in research among participating students. The success of the exchange benefits both institutions as it strengthens academic partnership and encourages future collaboration in research and such events.
Dr. Pamela Peralta, Interim Vice Provost of Research and Sponsored Programs at the University of Guam was also in attendance during the exchange.
