WERI’s Ms. Dannika Kate Valerio and Ms. Maria Jhonnie Villareal made a significant impact at the 2023 UCOWR/NIWR Annual Water Resources Conference held at Colorado State University. They presented their groundbreaking research, highlighting important water resource issues.
Research assistant Ms. Valerio presented her study, ” MAppFx: Production Well Nitrates Northern Guam Lens Aquifer”, during the water quality session on June 13, 2023. Her research explored well nitrate concentrations on the Northern Guam Lens Aquifer, through an interactive web map and graphs.
In addition, research associate Ms. Villareal captivated attendees at the welcome reception and poster session with her research titled “Drilling Deep Observation Wells in Carbonate Island Karst – The Monitoring System Expansion and Rehabilitation Program, Guam”. Her study focused on the development of an innovative monitoring system for deep observation wells in Guam’s carbonate island karst.
By participating in this conference, WERI aimed to showcase their talented researchers and foster connections with industry experts in the water resource field. The event provided a platform to expand networks and create future collaborative opportunities.
WERI’s involvement in the UCOWR / NIWR Annual Water Resources Conference aligned with their mission to share island-based research with a wider audience. It emphasized their dedication to addressing water resource challenges and promoting knowledge exchange within the industry.
