EV graduate student receives travel award to attend the 2026 NIWR/UCOWR conference

WERI research assistant and Environmental Science graduate student, Nicole Sulla Mathews, was awarded the Student Travel Award to attend the 2026 NIWR/UCOWR Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas. This June, she will be presenting her research on Land Cover Change in the Finegayan Basin, Guam (early 2000s – present) Using Seasonally Calibrated Supervised Classification Workflows. Her advisor, Dr. Yuming Wen, and WERI congratulates her success and are excited for her to present on the national stage.

The National Institutes for Water Resources (NIWR) and the Universities Council on Water Resources (UCOWR) are groups of academic institutions dedicated to advancing water resources research, education, and outreach. They foster interdisciplinary collaboration and leadership to build capacity for addressing complex water challenges at regional and global scales.
