On Friday, June 27, 2025, the Watershed Planning Committee convened at their quarterly meeting in Adelup. Among the presenters was Dr. Habana, WERI faculty and hydrologist, who introduced the latest advancement in watershed mapping.
Dr. Habana unveiled an updated map featuring the most refined elevation imagery to date. In his presentation, Dr. Habana showcased how the map reveals previously unknown watersheds and rivers, significantly enhancing the committee’s understanding of the region. This breakthrough imagery will be invaluable in further exploring and protecting Guam’s natural water systems.
This updated map is part of ongoing efforts at WERI to enhance Guam’s hydrological data and will be incorporated into future watershed studies. Stay tuned for more updates, including its upcoming availability through the Guam Hydrologic Survey’s Web MApps library.
