EV graduate student, Mary Clare Snaer, successfully defends her thesis
Ms. Mary Clare Snaer, a graduate student in the Environmental Science (EV) program at the University of Guam, successfully defended her thesis at WERI on April 30, 2026.
Her thesis focuses on the hydrologic analysis of deep observation wells in the Northern Guam Lens Aquifer, where she evaluated the impacts of hydrologic events on Guam’s freshwater source.
In her research, she found that the freshwater response to rainfall and drought varied throughout different sites within the aquifer. Her analysis will soon be published as a WERI Technical Report and will be available through the Guam Hydrologic Survey reports library.
Ms. Snaer graduate with a BS in Biology from the University of Guam in May 2023. Following her graduation, she started working with Dr. Nathan Habana as a research assistant on data transfer for the Guam Hydrologic Survey. Later, she enrolled as a graduate student in the EV program in Fall 2024.
WERI celebrates Ms. Snaer’s accomplishments and her completion of this major milestone! Congratulations!
