WERI News: WERI at AWRA, UCOWR, NIWR 2024 Conference
From September 30, 2024 to October, 2, 2024, two WERI research assistants, Ms. Atasha Bautista and Ms. Mary Clare Snaer had the opportunity to share their WERI research projects at the 2024 AWRA, UCOWR, NIWR Joint Water Resources Conference. This year, the event took place at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis Arch in St. Louis, Missouri.
WERI News: Proposed alternative solutions for securing Guam’s water resources
Recently, Dr. Kim wrote an article for the Guam Daily Post. The article highlighted WERI’s efforts to address water security amid rising climate challenges and emphasized using seawater as a potential solution. This research was published in the Springer journal, Water, Air & Soil Pollution.

WERI attended the Annual Water & Wastewater Conference on Sep. 12, 2024. During the event, Dr. Habana and Matt Zapata, WERI faculty member and research assistant, respectfully, previewed the latest developments for the MAppFx library for Guam and Saipan, CNMI.

On June 20, 2024, experts and stakeholders convened for the Guam Forest Plan Summit to discuss critical issues surrounding Guam’s forest system. Representatives from WERI presented some of their completed research projects during the topic sessions on watershed management.
WERI News: The NGLA Tour makes its return
After four years, WERI’s Northern Guam Lens Aquifer (NGLA) Tour for educators and professionals makes its official return on May 10, 2024. This marks the relaunch of the NGLA field trip series, which took place once or twice a year in the past.
